About the Role
We are seeking a results-oriented Hotel Manager to lead sales-focused initiatives while managing light operational responsibilities at our luxury hotel property in Colombo. This unique role is tailored for a seasoned hospitality professional or a strong Sales Manager ready to step into a broader leadership position.
The selected candidate will champion revenue growth, client acquisition, and strategic account management. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the hotel’s commercial success by driving new business opportunities, nurturing key accounts, and collaborating with operational teams to ensure top-tier guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Revenue Generation
- Design, execute, and oversee sales strategies focused on maximizing occupancy, RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room), and overall revenue.
- Prospect and secure high-value business including corporate accounts, travel agencies, long-stay groups, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) events.
- Lead sales presentations and site visits to convert leads into confirmed bookings.
- Monitor competitor performance, seasonal trends, and sales forecasts to adjust pricing and promotional strategies effectively.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and roll out digital campaigns, event promotions, and special offers.
2. Account Management & Client Relations
- Maintain a portfolio of key clients and corporate accounts through regular communication, on-site visits, and customized service offerings.
- Establish long-term partnerships through tailored proposals, loyalty programs, and value-added services.
- Represent the hotel at tourism fairs, hospitality expos, networking events, and industry associations to increase brand awareness and client base.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards and personalized attention throughout the client lifecycle.
3. Revenue Management Support
- Work closely with the revenue and reservations departments to monitor pricing structures, distribution channels (OTAs, direct bookings), and room inventory strategies.
- Analyze daily pickup reports, revenue metrics, and booking trends to make data-driven decisions.
- Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and long-term strategic planning initiatives.
- Utilize hotel software and property management systems to track KPIs like ADR (Average Daily Rate), GOP (Gross Operating Profit), and conversion ratios.
4. Operational Coordination
- Ensure consistent communication and coordination with all key departments including front office, food & beverage, housekeeping, and events.
- Support the General Manager with operational audits, service standard compliance, and process optimization.
- Serve as a commercial advisor in cross-functional meetings and lead by example in fostering a guest-centric culture.
- Handle escalated guest complaints or operational issues professionally, ensuring swift resolution.
5. Team Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and sales training to junior team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set sales targets, and monitor progress against KPIs.
- Foster a team environment that promotes innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
- Act as a liaison between the executive team and departmental heads to ensure alignment with the company’s overall goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification or certification in Sales, Marketing, or Hotel Management is an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in hotel sales, business development, or account management. Previous experience as a Sales Manager or Assistant Hotel Manager is highly desirable.
- Skills Required:
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of hotel revenue models and key performance metrics.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.
- Tech-savvy, proficient with CRM systems, MS Office, and hotel PMS (e.g., Opera, Cloudbeds).
