To support our growth and brand development in the region, we are seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to join our dynamic team in Kandy.


Position Summary

The Digital Marketing Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing, executing, and optimizing HotelsHippo’s digital marketing strategies. You will be responsible for driving online traffic, increasing user engagement, and growing brand visibility across digital platforms. This role requires a combination of creativity, analytical thinking, and technical digital marketing skills.

As the face of our digital campaigns, you’ll be working hands-on with tools and platforms such as Google Analytics, SEO software, paid advertising channels, and social media management systems. You will collaborate with the creative, product, and tech teams to ensure a unified online presence and customer journey.

This is an on-site, full-time position based in Kandy, offering an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their digital marketing career in the fast-evolving travel and tech space.


Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Campaign Development

  • Develop, implement, and manage end-to-end digital marketing strategies that align with the company’s overall goals and branding guidelines.
  • Plan and execute multi-channel campaigns including paid search, display advertising, email marketing, content marketing, and SEO.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience across digital touchpoints.

Social Media Management

  • Manage and grow the company’s presence across all major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Schedule regular posts, respond to followers, and create interactive content to boost audience engagement and retention.
  • Run targeted ad campaigns on platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram Ads) and measure performance against set KPIs.

Analytics & Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor and analyze digital marketing metrics and performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Use tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and social media insights to track web traffic, conversions, and ROI.
  • Generate weekly/monthly reports on campaign performance with actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

SEO & Content Optimization

  • Conduct keyword research and competitive analysis to improve organic search rankings.
  • Work with content writers to optimize website copy, blog posts, and other on-page elements for SEO best practices.
  • Audit and improve meta tags, page structure, load speed, and mobile responsiveness for better search engine visibility.

Email & Affiliate Marketing

  • Design and manage email campaigns targeted at different user segments.
  • Work with external affiliates and partners to drive traffic and bookings through collaborative online initiatives.
  • Analyze click-through and open rates to refine subject lines, content, and design layouts.

Creative & Brand Messaging

  • Assist in crafting clear, persuasive, and brand-consistent messaging across all digital channels.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop visuals, banners, and video ads that enhance campaign storytelling.
  • Stay updated on digital trends and ensure HotelsHippo’s digital voice is innovative, fresh, and engaging.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in digital marketing, preferably in the travel, hospitality, or e-commerce sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Social Media Marketing, Online Advertising, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Business Suite, and marketing automation tools.
  • Familiarity with web traffic analysis, conversion rate optimization, and digital KPIs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Sinhala and/or Tamil proficiency is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret data, draw conclusions, and present insights in a clear and concise manner.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple digital campaigns simultaneously.

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Experience in web content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress or Wix.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, or other front-end web development basics is an added advantage.
  • Creative flair with an eye for design, layout, and digital storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of the digital travel customer journey.
  • A problem-solver mindset with a proactive approach to testing and optimization.
  • Prior experience working in a start-up or growth-focused company is a plus.

Working Hours & Location

  • Location: On-site, Kandy, Sri Lanka
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required based on campaign deadlines or major launch events.
