Position Overview
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior leadership team. As CFO, you will be a key architect of Capital Metals’ financial future, responsible for driving fiscal strategy, funding growth initiatives, and ensuring robust financial governance. You will lead all finance functions, provide critical insight to executive decision-making, and maintain strong investor confidence during our transition from development to operations.
This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned finance professional with deep experience in multi-jurisdictional operations, capital markets, and corporate strategy, particularly within the resources sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
- Serve as the principal financial advisor to the CEO and Board.
- Define and execute financial strategies that support short- and long-term business goals.
- Align financial planning with the company’s mission, vision, and sustainability objectives.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Oversee corporate budgeting, financial planning, and modeling processes.
- Ensure accurate forecasting of capital and operational expenditures.
- Monitor financial performance and adjust forecasts as needed.
3. Accounting, Audit, and Compliance
- Direct all accounting and financial reporting functions.
- Ensure compliance with international and local accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to manage audit processes.
4. Capital Management & Investor Relations
- Lead all capital raising initiatives, including equity, debt, and structured financing.
- Build and maintain investor confidence through clear, transparent communication.
- Drive IPO readiness planning and liaise with investment banks, legal counsel, and regulators.
5. Treasury and Cross-Border Finance
- Design and implement treasury strategies for liquidity, cash flow, and foreign exchange management.
- Oversee banking relationships and ensure optimal capital allocation across borders.
- Establish controls for secure and compliant financial operations in multiple jurisdictions.
6. Corporate Development
- Support M&A evaluations and post-transaction integrations.
- Lead financial due diligence on joint ventures, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Provide input into corporate restructuring and expansion plans.
7. Risk Management
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with governance and internal control standards.
- Lead the enterprise risk management process with other senior executives.
8. Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years as CFO or equivalent.
- Expertise in financial strategy, capital markets, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of leading complex, cross-border finance functions.
- Experience working with Boards, investors, and multi-national executive teams.
- Sound understanding of mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors is highly preferred.
Desirable:
- Professional qualifications: ICASL, CIMA (UK), ICAEW, CPA (Australia) or equivalent.
- MBA or master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline.
- Experience leading IPO processes or major financing rounds.
- Familiarity with UK corporate governance and public company reporting requirements.
