Position Summary
As a Health Safety Environment (HSE) Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental protection standards, and company policies across all worksites. The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical, and committed to fostering a culture of safety, awareness, and accountability within a dynamic industrial environment.
You will serve as the key link between field teams and corporate safety governance, focusing on preventive measures, incident management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific HSE plans and procedures in compliance with national and international regulations (including NEBOSH standards).
- Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses across all departments to identify potential issues and ensure operational safety.
- Lead safety induction training for new hires and organize refresher courses for existing staff on occupational health and environmental practices.
- Maintain and update safety documentation including incident reports, safety metrics, checklists, and training logs.
- Ensure all safety-related equipment, signage, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are available, functional, and used correctly.
- Investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO, OSHA, NEBOSH, and EHS standards.
- Work closely with line managers and team leads to implement safe work systems and protocols.
- Promote awareness campaigns such as “Safety Week,” fire drills, and toolbox talks to instill safety-first attitudes.
- Stay updated on legal regulations, industry trends, and best practices, and advise management accordingly.
- Monitor waste management, emissions control, and environmental impact activities in accordance with company policy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is required.
- Minimum 2–5 years of work experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations and applicable national labor laws.
- Strong proficiency in preparing and presenting safety reports and incident documentation.
- Experience conducting workplace training sessions and safety audits.
- Ability to manage emergencies and high-pressure situations with professionalism and efficiency.
